Facebook graph search

Facebook, the most popular social networking site having almost 800 Millions active users where people can like, share or get connected with their friends and family members anytime. Facebook has introduced many new features since 2005 till now.

After Facebook News Feed and Timeline features, Facebook has introduced its new feature today, Graph Search. Facebook Graph Search, Facebook search engine, is the new way of getting information on Facebook that will give users all possible answers for their queries. This tool will help to search people, places, photos and likes of friends. For Example – You can search things by just typing the search term and you can find the correct answer for the same. This search can be refined with “refine this search option” (this option will be visible on the sidebar of Facebook). According to Zuckerberg, this search gradually will cover all content like Google.

If you want to search for any good restaurant in Delhi. Then you will have to type that query on your Facebook page and answer will be given according to your friends preferences. What they have liked and what they have checked in would be the answer of your query.

tech-facebook-graph-searchThis tool can give a big advantage to business men and they can produce more profit. By this tool marketers can search for the users’ interest in the specific city or country.

Currently Graph Search is in the initial phase of development and is available for beta testing. However after some time it will be available to few thousands of US users. This great feature currently is not available on mobile devices.

Now what’s difference between Graph Search & Web Search? In graph search, we can search the data which is available on Facebook server while all websites data can be searched with web search. If Data related to your search is not available on Facebook then it will automatically result out the Bing Search Engine data.

Yes these features are quite interesting. But if you don’t want to show your images or data to your friends or friends of friends, take care of your privacy option. For example, if you have uploaded a photograph in your profile and set its privacy option (who can view this picture) – friends of friends then by Graph search friends of your friends can also see that photograph even they are not directly connected with you. However Facebook has decided not to pick the photographs from its own Instagram.

Now you just don’t have the option of “Google it”, you can also “Facebook it” for searching. This feature is looking interesting. Eagerly waiting for this feature to come in the market.

Yes Atish, Facebook is working on this since long. This search engine seems to be very interesting. Hope it will be better for business owners and also for fb users.

  4. Interesting Amit!

It’s still in Beta, though when it does come up it would surely be a helpful feature for those who want to hunt for their friends, pictures, places and other such things. However, how much it would really affect us, or how many of us would really like and make use of this feature is yet to be seen – isn’t it?

Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

It can never beat Google but it will be good for Facebook users because they will be able to customize their search through this implementation.
